“Never be afraid to fall apart because it is an opportunity to rebuild yourself the way you wish you had been all along.” – Rae Smith

The Quote
From a devotional by Sheri Rose Shepherd, she says, “Rebuild broken hearts with words of hope. Rebuild
broken relationships with forgiveness, grace, and love. Rebuild broken cities by serving the community.”
The Application
When going through any type of situation that can cause worry or stress, i.e. financial stress, childbearing or child caring stress, health concerns, work concerns, etc., it can be easy to get stuck into a mental cycle of “woe is me” or focusing only on the problems. Fear, stress and worry can change your perspective to one that is like tunnel vision, making it hard to see positive possible solutions or even realize the true size of the problem. Which is where this quote comes in for me. Reading this quote provides the perfect words to snap me out of my tunnel vision. These words remind me that no matter what situation I am in, I can always rebuild and that I must rebuild because this life isn’t just about me. My life isn’t just about me being able to succeed so that only my family and I can have a good life. When I rebuild and succeed, I am better able to help others rebuild. If I want a better situation, a better environment, a better community, I have to Rebuild! I can’t get stuck in the tunnel vision of pain, sadness, or stress. Every problem is just a new opportunity to rebuild. We do not have any set number of times we can rebuild our life. So be like Nike and just do it. Here’s to the Rebuild!
